Palm Springs buddy trip – 3 Course reviews.

I just returned from a quick trip to the desert and played courses worth mentioning.

Let’s start out with the best…

Desert Willow Golf Resort

Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California, offers two distinct 18-hole courses: Firecliff and Mountain View. The Mountain View course is renowned for its wide fairways, limited desert waste areas, and stunning mountain vistas. It features 98 strategically placed bunkers, sloping greens, and seven water features, providing a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of varying skill levels.

The resort’s amenities complement the golfing experience. The clubhouse offers a well-stocked pro shop, locker room facilities, and a restaurant with an extensive lunch menu. An outdoor patio provides spectacular views of the surrounding Santa Rosa Mountains. The practice facility includes a targeted grass range, putting greens, and a short game area. Golf carts are equipped with ProLink GPS, ball and club washers, and ice chests.

In summary, the Mountain View course at Desert Willow Golf Resort delivers a well-maintained, scenic, and moderately challenging golfing experience, enhanced by excellent facilities and service.

Cost $140.00

My Take:  One of the best golf resorts in the desert.  Everything is first class, from the service to the pro shop to the course and and the restaurant. Two beautiful challenging courses.  The whole thing makes you feel like you are  a private member of the club.  Bravo!

Cathedral Canyon Golf Club

Cathedral Canyon Golf Club, located in Cathedral City near Palm Springs, offers an 18-hole championship course that integrates the natural rolling terrain with scenic views of the San Jacinto Mountains. The course features tree-lined fairways, 16 lakes, undulating greens, and strategically placed bunkers, providing a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels.

Amenities at Cathedral Canyon Golf Club include a fully stocked golf shop, a practice area with a putting green, and options for drinks and snacks. The club also offers golf tournament and event services.

In summary, Cathedral Canyon Golf Club provides a well-maintained and affordable golfing experience, with a course layout that offers both beauty and challenge, suitable for golfers of various skill levels.

Cost: $75.00, afternoon discount

My take: We were stuck trying to get the travel day tee time and found this available. Its a beautiful scenic course layout.  A pleasure to play with reasonable rates.  Pro shop was very friendly.   However, there were still issues from the past years floods.  The course maintenance was lacking, and clubhouse is really tired.  No on course amenities. Much of the clubhouse is occupied by a now closed restaurant, making it feel like it was deserted.

So if you’re looking for a lower price at a formerly beautiful course, this is the place.

Palm Desert Greens

Palm Desert Greens Country Club is a private, 55+ community located in Palm Desert, California, featuring a well-maintained executive-style 18-hole golf course. The course is known for its lush, green fairways and well-manicured conditions, providing an enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels.

The course layout offers a pleasant and typical desert golfing experience, with a mix of par-3 and short par-4 holes. One notable hole is the short par-4 9th, measuring 254 yards, which requires a tee shot over a flower bed and water hazard to an elevated green, with the mountains providing a scenic backdrop.

Golfers have praised the course for its excellent maintenance, with lush fairways and smooth greens. The course is described as fun and suitable for all skill levels.

In addition to the golf course, Palm Desert Greens Country Club offers various amenities, including a clubhouse, dining options, and social activities, catering to the active adult community.

In summary, Palm Desert Greens Country Club provides a well-maintained and enjoyable golfing experience within a vibrant 55+ community, making it an attractive option for senior golfers seeking both recreation and social engagement.  From bogeysacrossamerica.com
