Maggie Simons grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she began playing golf at the age of 10. She attended the David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida before receiving a scholarship to play Division I college golf at Wake Forest University. During college, Maggie was the 2005 and 2007 North Carolina Women’s Amateur Champion, qualified for the 2006 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Pumpkin Ridge, and was a semi-finalist in the North & South Women’s Amateur Championship in Pinehurst. At the end of 2007, Maggie turned professional and played three years on the LPGA Futures (Symetra) Tour.

After touring, she began working as an Assistant Golf Professional at Pine Needles & MidPines Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina, where she had the opportunity to teach in Peggy Kirk Bell’s golf schools alongside LPGA legend Donna Andrews and Pat McGowan.

After her time in Pinehurst Maggie worked for three and a half years as a full-time teaching professional and Junior Golf Leader at Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.  In 2014, Maggie helped Carmel become the first licensed Operation36 Golf facility in the country, and recruited 115 juniors to participate weekly in its after school program. Because of her work with juniors, Maggie was honored as a Top 50 U.S. Kids Golf Coach in 2014,2015 and then in 2016 was named a Master Instructor.

Since starting here at OGC Maggie has built very popular programs including the Junior and Ladies Operation 36 classes. In 2019 she was awarded Oregon Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year and has been a Top 50 Operation 36 coach for three straight years earning her a Master Coach status.  In 2021 Golf Digest named her a top instructor in the state of Oregon through voting of her peers. Maggie still enjoys competing and has won multiple events since moving to the area including a victory at the 2021 Callaway Invitational with a score of 10 under par.
