Prop Bets

Prop Bets for Side Games! – by AI

My curiosity about the new Artificial Intelligence tools led me to trying to get AI to write a golf game.  The first time I used Chat GPT and it created a game called The Green Back Game.  This time I tried it using Googles new app called Bard and after a few prompts and a couple edits it created this game.

The Prop Bet Game

The Prop Bet Game is a golf betting game that can be played with any number of players. The game is played by each player making a prop bet on a different golfer. The prop bet can be anything like over/under on how many birdies a golfer will make to how many 3 putts, if they will beat their handicap, etc.  Or first player to hit a tree or double bogey.  The possibilities are endless.

You can also have fun by betting within your foursome on each hole.  Bets should be considerate of handicaps.

Once a player proposes a Prop Bet the challenged player can accept or reject the bet.  If they reject they are required to propose a different Prop Bet.  If their “counter bet” is rejected there is no bet on the hole.

Try these:

  • Hit the fairway Y/N
  • 3 Putt Y/N
  • GIR Y/N
  • Make a net birdie Y/N

Pick new ones for each hole.

The game is scored as follows:

  • First, pick a point value $$
  • If the prop bet is correct, the player who made the bet wins a point.
  • If the prop bet is incorrect, the player who made the bet loses a point.
  • The players add up their points and pay off anyone who had more points at the end of the game.

Variations

There are a few variations of the Prop Bet Game that you can play. For example, you can play a Nassau game, where each player antes up a certain amount of money before the round starts. The player with the most points at the end of the round  (or front 9, back 9 and total) wins the pot.

Or you could include non-player prop bets like “it will rain on the 15th hole”

Pick one prop bet to be played throughout the round.  Like betting on each hole if another player in your group will make a net par.

Tips

Here are a few tips for playing the Prop Bet Game:

Do your research. Before you make a prop bet, make sure you do your research on the golfer you are betting on.

Be creative. Don’t be afraid to make a prop bet that is outside the box.

Have fun. The Prop Bet Game is a great way to have fun and add some excitement to your golf game.

I may need to experiment with this one to refine the rules.  Stay tuned
